Fiscal calendar and definition approval
Two organization settings on the Customize page change how Querri counts time and how it tracks changes to your definitions: the Fiscal calendar and Definition approval. They sit below the instruction boxes covered in Context settings.
Who can see this: people whose role includes the AI context settings permission (admins have it). Anyone else gets a “not authorized” message instead of the page. What you set here applies to everyone in your organization.
Fiscal calendar
Section titled “Fiscal calendar”“How your organization counts quarters, years and weeks.” If your year doesn’t start in January, or your periods are weeks rather than months, set it here once and Querri uses it everywhere.
| Setting | Choices |
|---|---|
| Fiscal year starts in | Any month. January means your fiscal year is the calendar year. |
| Fiscal periods | Calendar months, 4-4-5 weeks, 4-5-4 weeks or 5-4-4 weeks |
| Weeks start on | Any day of the week. Monday by default. |
Below the menus, a sentence describes the calendar you’ve picked, so you can check it before you save.
Calendar months
Section titled “Calendar months”With Calendar months, the fiscal year starts on the 1st of the start month and each fiscal quarter is three calendar months counted from it. With a February start, Q1 is February to April and Q2 is May to July.
Week patterns
Section titled “Week patterns”With a week pattern, the fiscal year is made of whole weeks, and each quarter is 13 weeks split into periods of 4, 4 and 5 weeks (or 4-5-4, or 5-4-4).
The year ends on the last day of the week (the day before Weeks start on) in the month before your start month. So with a February start and weeks starting on Sunday, every fiscal year ends on the last Saturday of January and begins near February 1.
Most years are 52 weeks. Some are 53: the extra week is added to the year’s last period, so a 4-4-5 year’s last quarter becomes 4-4-6.
What uses it
Section titled “What uses it”- Date filters. Date filter presets follow the fiscal calendar. Once a fiscal year is set, they read Fiscal quarter to date, Last fiscal quarter, Fiscal year to date and Last fiscal year.
- Weeks. This week and Last week start on your Weeks start on day, even with no fiscal year set.
- KPIs. A KPI can be measured by fiscal period, fiscal quarter or fiscal year. Querri checks that every value lines up with your fiscal periods. A Blueprint KPI measured by fiscal quarter, such as the FP&A Blueprint’s Revenue (fiscal quarter), installs as Partially built until a fiscal year is set here. Set it, then retry the installation.
- The AI. When a question says “quarter” or “year” without saying calendar, the AI reads it as your fiscal quarter or year.
Leaving the settings at January, Calendar months and Monday means no fiscal calendar: everything counts by calendar quarters and years, as before.
Definition approval
Section titled “Definition approval”Require approval for definition changes marks changes to view and metric definitions until someone checks them. When it’s on, a change to a definition is labelled Pending approval until someone other than its author approves it, and approvers are notified in their Inbox. Rules on the Facts & Rules tab aren’t covered.
See Definition versions and approval for who can approve, how to compare versions and how to restore an earlier one.
Saving
Section titled “Saving”Save Settings saves these settings together with the instruction boxes and import settings on the same page. Ctrl+S (Cmd+S on a Mac) does the same. Saved changes are recorded in Settings history.
